Social Media: Certain or Anonymous Users?

I chose to do my term paper on Social Media: Certain or Anonymous Users? I believe that whether or not a person's true identity is used on a platform really does affect the whole community. Some people only like talking to people they know exist, such as on LinkedIn, while others prefer to be as anonymous as possible, going on websites such as Reddit. I plan on going into both sides of the spectrum and will determine reasons as to why one may be preferred over the other. I will also show the positive and negatives of fully being on one side or another, as well as anything this may lead to. I would also like to possibly touch upon websites that are somewhat in between such as Instagram and Facebook where you can use your true identity but can also easily make an account using false information. Currently, I think that the people who use their true identity enjoy the presence of knowing that there a live person on the other side, while those who want anonymity just wants to have a place where they can freely and openly express themselves without being judged. This is just a brief summary of what my project may include and where it may lead. I plan to touch on all these examples and ideas in greater detail.
